What’s your bio? 
I’ve been married to my wife, Keri, for 13+
years and we have 2 kids, a 12 year old son and 10 year old daughter. I’m originally from Roanoke, Virginia and have lived in Charlotte, NC since 1993. I enjoy golf (for some reason) and watching Virginia Tech sports with my son. I spent 2 years at Virginia Tech, took some time off, and finished my BBA at Montreat College in North Carolina.
What is your company and who are your customers?
My wife and I run a mortgage broker company, America One Mortgage, offering refinance and purchase options to clients in SC, NC, VA, PA and FL. All our business is organically grown through referrals (that is the best compliment we can get) and we have a full spectrum of mortgage options – conventional, VA, FHA, USDA and portfolio lending – to meet any need.
How did your company, organization, or venture start?
I have been in the mortgage business for 27 years, mainly on the wholesale side. In March, my previous employer closed, and I decided to partner with a friend from NJ to open the America One Mortgage branch in SC. It was scary to become self-employed, but it’s been such a blessing and the business has exploded. That is why my wife got licensed as a Loan Officer and we now run the business together!
What do you do on a daily basis and why?
I spend the majority of my day prospecting while my wife handles more of the loan level items. I do online research and stay up to date on industry changes.
What’s your past life? How did skills and background that got you here to where you are?
My past life was in the wholesale side of the mortgage business, versus now being in the retail side (retail is customer facing; wholesale is the lending side that brokers use)
What are your personal and professional goals?
Our goal is to continue to grow organically, without the need for advertising, and to eventually bring on more Loan Officers to grow the company.
Other than your work, what are you most passionate about?
The kids, obviously! They grow so fast, I try to sit back and enjoy the moment.
Why did you initially come to LOOM?
In order to get a license in NC, I have to have an office outside my home and LOOM was the perfect place!
