LOOM Member Spotlight – Brian Tally

We are proud of our members and how much they have grown personally and professionally.  Meet BRIAN TALLY, Marketing & Business Development at ROI TRAINING.

Unlike many coworking facilities, we consider ourselves a community and love getting to know them, their goals and their passions ….. we think you will too!

Tell us about your background, family, education: I was born and raised in NJ, lived in NYC area until two years ago. Now live in Ballantyne with my wife Jennifer and two boys ages 13 and 10. I majored in English and Education at Rutgers and got my MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business in 2007. I have led employee development and talent management functions in financial services and technology.

What is your business and who are your customers?  I am currently in Marketing and Business Development for a company called ROI Training. We provide instructor led courses for technologists on a wide range of technologies and methods. Our customers are mid to large sized companies and government agencies including Wells Fargo, Fidelity, Cisco, The Federal Reserve, Deloitte, and Lowe’s. We were just selected as a top 20 IT training company for 2019 by Training Industry, and have been Google Cloud’s Training “Partner of the Year” for two years running. I joined in September of this year as Marketing and Program Customization Director.

How did this venture start?  Two co-founders left Learning Tree in 2001 to customize programs for Goldman Sachs, and it grew from there.

What do you actually do on a daily basis and why?  I divide my time between creating promotional content and reaching out to prospective clients from my network.

What’s your past life? How did skills and background that got you here to where you are? I started out as a high school teacher, then moved into training adults in technology and business skills in financial services. I became an HR Director specializing in Talent Management, Employee Development, and Organization Development. My deep background in learning and HR supports my work in collaborating with learning professionals on custom training.

New customers are you targeting? New services being offered? Targeting any IT teams who need training in technologies and systems. New popular services are custom training in cloud computing, big data/data science, software development language and process, and project management.

What are your personal and/or professional goals?  I plan to build my skillset beyond HR by building a brand, increasing revenue, and showing leadership.

Other than your work, what are you most passionate about? I’m a devoted family man, an expert skier and former ski instructor, and I am most passionate about learning and teaching – I am a career coach nights and weekends for mid-level professionals around the world.

Why did you initially come to LOOM?  I visited while there was a lunch and learn starting, and loved the sense of community and ability to concentrate on work yet be part of an entrepreneurial spirit that fills this place.

How do you feel you have benefited or grown? Any anecdotes? It’s only been a few days but I’ve benefited by meeting great people and by finding a way to increase focus and productivity by joining LOOM. Also a painting shown at LOOM now hangs in my living room!

What do you want to MAKE SURE to cover before we close? My family and I love the Ft. Mill. /So. Charlotte area! The Ann Springs Close Greenway is our favorite place to hike and hang out!
