MEMBER SPOTLIGHT – ALEX LIESKE

We are incredibly proud of all of our LOOM Coworking members and love seeing their growth, personally and professionally. Learn more about Alex Lieske.

Who is Alex Lieske? I’m originally from Timonium, MD, a suburb about 15 miles north of Baltimore. My wife, Heidi, is originally from the Philadelphia area, but we lived in the Baltimore area for 15 years before moving to Fort Mill in August of 2021. We have two sons, Cobb (12) and Fitch (10), and a daughter, Tyson (7).  And, of course, our 6 year old boxer, Trooper. I went to undergrad at Duke University and played on the Men’s Lacrosse team, graduating in 2002. I later attended the University of Maryland, Smith School, and got my MBA in 2008. Heidi went to the University of Virginia, and our love for “The South” from our college days finally brought us to Fort Mill when a job opportunity arose for her in August 2021.  We wish we had made it here sooner, but better late than never!

What is your company and who are your customers? I work for a boutique real estate investment firm called Morgan Legacy Partners. We have a mission to improve the quantity and quality of affordable housing, which is desperately needed in booming areas like Charlotte as the city sprawls. We invest in mobile home parks, smaller multifamily, and we also dabble in commercial and industrial properties.

What are your personal and/professional goals? Work life balance and not missing any special moments with my kids, whether it be school plays, sports, or just spending time with them. Now that our oldest is 12, we realize how quickly the years go. My wife and I both worked long hours in our previous lives and our goal when we moved was to have a much more flexible schedule, lower the stress, and enjoy our family and friends. So far, so good. We absolutely love South Carolina (and the Carolinas as a whole), the people, and the way of life.

How do you feel you have benefitted or grown at LOOM? I’ve only been here a short time, but in a world where remote work is increasingly prevalent, we sometimes don’t step out of our house for days. Humans are social creatures, and whether we realize it or not, being around people is important (in my opinion). LOOM is a perfect work environment that combines a comfortable and quiet work atmosphere with the ability to socialize and meet new and interesting people.
