Who is Michael McCoy? Hi everyone, I’m Michael McCoy, Co-Founder and CEO of Dental Collective, a national Group Purchasing Organization that helps independent dental practices access the same pricing and resources typically reserved for large DSOs. My wife Callie and I, along with our two children, Ryan and Jack, recently moved to Fort Mill from Boston in August 2024. Outside of work, you’ll usually find us at the Greenway, or at dance and swim class with the kids. We’ve really enjoyed settling into the easier lifestyle, the great weather, and the amazing community of friends we’ve already found here in Fort Mill.
Tell us about your educational background? I have a Bachelor degree from the University of Central Florida where I studied Business Finance, and my MBA from Washington State University.
Describe your company and who are your customers? I am the co-founder & CEO of Dental Collective. We are a group purchasing organization within the dental industry designed to help the independent dental practice leverage the buying power of our group to help reduce overhead costs in their practice. You can think of us as a “costco” but for dental practices.
What do you do on a daily basis? I joke that I’m the president, the janitor, and everything in between. My days are spent doing things like; admin, strategy, sales, marketing, networking, and so much more. I spend time both in the office and also go into dental practices to see the customer.
What are your personal and/or professional goals? I want to create something that I and my family can be proud of and potentially build something that can be passed down to my children, while creating financial stability and freedom for my family.
How did your skills and background get you to where you are today? My entire professional career has been calling on dental practices as a dental sales rep for two different companies. I spent 7 years working for Komet USA (actually US HQ in Indian Land) working as a local territory manager and then oversaw all Institutional and Public Health sales across US & Canada. Then I spent 2 years as a local territory manager for Invisalign.
Other than work, what are you most passionate about? Raising my two children has become the center of my life outside of work. Our daughter, Ryan, is 2.5 years old and our son, Jack, is 7 months old. I love playing sports, checking out new restaurants, or enjoying a local beer.
Why did you initially come to LOOM? I am one of those people that can’t accomplish anything working from home… besides the dishes, laundry, or relaxing on the couch. In an office environment, I’m incredibly productive, so it’s a no brainer. I’m also big on having a sense of community, especially living in a new place. I enjoy being around others so working from LOOM has already been a nice addition to my life.
