Member Spotlight – Logan Smith, CPA

We are incredibly proud of all of our LOOM Coworking members and love seeing their growth, personally and professionally. Learn more about Logan Smith, CPA.

Who is Logan Smith? Originally from Pasadena, CA I lived in Puget Sound, WA from 1995 – 2021. Married my wife Michelle in 2009, we have 3 kids, Clarissa 11, Charlie 8 (adopted 4 years ago), and Caleb 5. I moved my family to Fort Mill, SC for more sun (Washington is cloudy and gray for too much of the year), better educational opportunities for our children and a healthy lifestyle.

What is your background? I graduated with a BA in Accounting in 2008 (not a great time to be looking for work) so I focused on passing the CPA exams as quickly as possible while looking for work and courting my wife Michelle.

What is your company and who are your customers?  I am  currently in between jobs in my accounting career, though I do have a few exciting opportunities that I am interviewing for. I recently completed two years as controller for Pleasant Beach Village, a very beautiful community on Bainbridge Island, WA. I assisted in the property management of business and residential tenants, a 23-room boutique inn, 3 restaurants, a wedding venue, seasonal membership pool and ice rink, as well as a home/lifestyle retail store. It was an incredible atmosphere with some great colleagues.

What do you do on a daily basis and why? I like to spend time with my family. I enjoy walking and playing with the dogs (a black golden-doodle and a white maltipoo) as a family. I read or tell stories to my kids at bedtime. I like to study the bible, listen to history podcasts as well as current events/politics/economics/future technology.

Do you enjoy sports? I’ve always been more into individual sports like swimming, skiing, hiking, rock climbing.

Why did you initially come to LOOM? I wanted to reconnect with other professionals that work remotely and have more focus time to get projects done. I was able to wrap up my duties as controller at Pleasant Beach more quickly with the ability to focus more. I did have one zoom call, where my colleagues asked what was going on in the background and I told them I’m in a coworking space, they laughed and joked that I should say hi for them.
