Where are you from? I grew up in Kentucky and my parents still live there so my wife and I visit often. I have a beautiful daughter and a dog that runs the house!
Education? I attended Eastern Kentucky University and have a Bachelor’s degree in English and Communications and a Master’s in Organizational Leadership from the University of Cincinnati.
Sports? I play golf as much as I can and have become a Carolina Gamecocks fan since my wife is an alumni from USC.
Describe your company and who are your customers? I founded Pisgah Peaks Ventures to help businesses and teams grow through digital solutions. Pisgah Peaks functions as fractional Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for companies. We provide digital marketing solutions for small businesses in niche markets. Our services include website design, e-commerce solutions, digital marketing, SEO, & professional content.
How did your company start? At the beginning of last year, I went on a journey to find that missing link, that slice of happiness I was missing. I had the “check-list” of things that were supposed to make me fulfilled. Wife, child, owned a home, had a 401K, a dog, etc. Still, I felt as if I was going through the motions, a slug reacting to my life.
What I’ve come to realize, through much searching, is that we need to focus our time on the things that only we can do. For me, this became a mix of bringing the picture back into focus and expanding someone’s self-care toolkit. For example, a long-time friend of mine started an online SaaS company. He, like most entrepreneurs, boot-strapped the entire project. Eventually, as he so eloquently said, “I’m fighting out of my weight-class”. This coupled with a tendency to develop blinders, has led him to a point in his own start-up where he needed some support. He didn’t need a 5,000 dollar a month advertising agency, promising optimized SEM, or world-class CTR. He needed a guiding light. He needed a beacon. He also needed a new set of eyes.
And so the idea of Pisgah Peaks Ventures began to take shape. We’re here to serve our clients as a modern, personable digital marketing agency. No big monthly retainers, no big egos. Just an experienced team willing to dig in and work hard for your business.
What do you do on a daily basis and why? I make sure I exercise, I have dinner with my family, I brainstorm ideas with clients, I look for new business opportunities for them and for my business. I love helping people make connections that make their business more profitable.
What’s your past life? How did skills and background that got you here to where you are? As co-owner of Franny’s Farmacy Franchising, I helped develop their franchise program from brick-and-mortar to a multi-state franchising opportunity. I started in the CBD industry through marketing and designing successful email campaigns to improve outreach. Before that I developed websites for craft breweries in Charleston, created B2C social media content, and did some keyword/SEO research for law firms.
New customers you are targeting, new services being offered, etc. We’ve been doing a lot of social media management for clients, creating unique content and sharing it across social media platforms and in blogs. And we’re always running analytics on our client’s sites to find issues and improve SEO. It’s something that takes a lot of time for business owners to tackle, and so important to rank high in Google searches and improve awareness.
What are your personal and professional goals? To become an “agency with a purpose” we want to work with clients that are important to us. Not because they spend the most money with us, but because they are making a difference in their local communities.
Other than your work, what are you most passionate about? My family, spending time with my wife and daughter.
Why did you initially come to LOOM? My team works remotely, so I was looking for a place to bring us together and collaborate on projects. LOOM is close to my home and a creative space that offers a unique solution that works for me.
How do you feel you have benefited or grown at LOOM? I’m a fairly new member, but I hope to make connections and host some events there in the future. All LOOM members will be invited so stay tuned!
